Hunting & Gathering: The Great Pacific N.W.
On the hunt!
Portland, Oregon...
Hunting for amazing vintage finds is not only essential to our business, but a personal obsession! For us, finding new ways to incorporate the old with new is an important part of our mission to reduce, recycle, reuse, and reLOVE more and give oldies but goodies a new lease on life!
So we travel all over to find amazing pieces to add to our Lollygag collection and this time we started right at our back door...
With travel being so hard these days, we decided a road trip was necessary and headed off through many smaller towns while making our way to Portland-Oregon, then back through Vancouver, Wa. on our way back home.
We meandered all around Portland, but our favorite spots for vintage hunting were near the Hosford - Abernethy neighborhood, where Really Good Stuff and Lounge Lizard to name a few, are located. If you're on the hunt for great vintage mid-century furniture or antique pinball, games, movie & music pieces, this is the area for you!
Some treasure troves you can find at Really Good Stuff-Portland, Or.
Don't forget to eat!
Food Trucks at Hawthorne Asylum Truck Stop
Food Truck Stop: Trash Can Art
Right down the street were 2 amazing food truck stops...soooo much to chose from! From shawarma and BBQ to yummy crepes & waffle trucks, it's hard not to find what you're looking for...and oh yeah we landed on gyros but if you aren't quite sure yet, you can wander down to Cartopia Food Truck Stop just down the street!
There is so much artistic charm and uniqueness flowing through this town that even disposing of trash is awesome here...and afterwards we made our way to the Hollywood district for more fun.
The Hollywood District: Portland, Or.
This district was great for inspiration and if you're looking for more of a mix of vintage clothing, home goods, and fun nick-knacks this is the place for you!
We found some great finds at Antique Alley and Hollywood Vintage which was a personal score of a vintage David Bowie tee and a Robert Maxwell vase hiding in a corner!
Heading back to Washington State...
We then made our way back towards home, with a night in Vancouver, WA.
If you ever find yourself in that neck of the woods, I highly recommend hitting up Main Street. There are a slew of vintage stores/ antique malls and mid-century furniture shops as well as a few with new but vintage feel home stores.
One of our favorites so far is Old Glory Antiques & Vintage...it's a great shop filled with many different vendors from space and dinosaur fossils to MCM furniture and antique glassware. A great spot for finding unique and rare pieces AND bonus- a great ice cream shop and pizza joint just next door.
This part of town is very nostalgic with an old classic car garage (which my 9 year old spent a lot of time taking pics of the awesome cars) and a mid-century feel...a great spot for a fun afternoon!
Next stop Kalama, Wa. -Yes as in Temple of Doom:) A tiny town with a population of about 2000... totally unassuming and what a find! This town has a little Main Street that has a bunch of hidden treasure troves, antique malls and even delis and general stores that sell antiques... Totally the bee's knees!
Kalama, Wa.

A job well done...
Overall we had a blast! A bit tired from all the hunting & gathering but well worth the visit for sure...a lot of fun was had and amazing pieces were found to add to our Vintage Finds collection!
