Then grate the ginger root onto the plate. You'll see how easily the ginger grates, mixing with the lemon and forming a paste that you won't notice when you pour it over the water.
Just pour it over ice-cold water (in a tall tumbler glass) and enjoy a refreshing drink with a delicious flavor and plenty of health benefits.
garnish with fresh mint and lemon slices to your glass and serve -optional
Recipe Note
To easily peel your ginger, use a teaspoon to scrape the sides and grooves of your ginger root.
This way of consuming ginger is a way to take full advantage of all its wonderful benefits since it doesn't involve any cooking process; you'll be eating raw ginger and you won't even notice its texture!
Ginger has cholagogue (purgative) properties , making it effective in treating digestive disorders. It stimulates the pancreas and increases the production of enzymes that aid digestion, preventing side effects such as heartburn or bloating. It is also antibacterial, so it helps combat intestinal problems caused by an imbalance in the gut flora.
Lemon also purifies the blood, lowers fevers, combats high blood pressure, is rich in antioxidants, and can help eliminate kidney stones.
